Kesher Needs Your Help

As we celebrate 30 years of Kesher, we are reaching out to you at a time of great victory and great challenge. This program, founded and nourished by our community, has sustained many challenges over the years. And in the face of these challenges, Kesher has changed, moved, survived and thrived.

Just Monday we opened our doors to our beautiful new space at 59 Cross Street in East Somerville. We are welcoming 16 children in our Nevatim (preschool program) and 11 to our Tsofim (afterschool program). Check out photos of the new space below!

For those following along in our journey from Kent to Cross, you know that there were many (many!) unexpected bumps along the way. Like the Israelites before us, some among us wondered, “should we turn back? Should we move to Cambridge where this is easier?” But our fearless leader Kat and her crew kept it going, working day and night (literally) to build Somerville’s only Jewish preschool and afterschool program. Throughout the challenges of COVID and a move, we have sustained amazing leadership and teachers–-feats many in the early childhood space cannot claim.

So now we’re coming to you, our community, to get us over a hump. The move came with costs–including the loss of some families due to the slight delay in opening. It’s been three years since we’ve asked for financial help, but we really need you now. Please click here for a link to our urgent fundraising page and help us meet our immediate goal of $30,000.

We are asking you to think about the value of early childhood education, of building Jewish community early, and of doing it in a way that is child-led, and inclusive of all. In this season of new beginnings and introspection, your generosity is deeply appreciated.
