Kesher Groups
Kesher K’vutzot (groups)Yahadut (Judaica)The groups in the K-5 program represent parts of a tree:
Kindergarten and 1st graders are Shorashim (roots)
2nd and 3rd graders are Nitzanim (buds)
4th and 5th graders are Anafim (branches)
The groups in the Bar/Bat Mitzvah program represent biblical fruits grown on trees:
6th graders are Te’enim (figs)
7th graders are Rimmonim (pomegranates)
8th/9th graders are T’marim (dates)
Ivrit (Hebrew)Hebrew Groups are by proficiency. We currently have 8 levels of Ivrit.
Kitah Aleph – first year of Ivrit, mostly new kindergarteners and 1st graders, general exposure to Ivrit and to the letters
Kitah Bet – second year of Ivrit, review of letters and introduction to vowels and decoding
Kitah Gimmel – lots of practice decoding, increased vocabulary, introduction to reading and writing in script
Kitah Dalet - move from singular tense to plural, more practice with all skills
Kitah Hey and Vav - move from present tense into past tense
Kitah Zayin – getting more comfortable with using both present and past tenses
Kitah Chet – consists of students in the Bar/Bat Mitzvah group who have not studied Hebrew in a long time, exploration of the Hebrew letters in creative and new ways
